Katie & Hollie's newspaper..

We have talked about our newspaper and we have decided on making a tabloid newspaper,we have decided on which roles and bits each of us are going to do and ended up with both of us designing and making the front and back cover sharing each other ideas and joining them together to get more creativity. We are also then going to split the pages up in half depending on how many pages we make. Im going to focus on fashion and soaps area of the newspaper whilst Hollie focuses on gossip and glamour side of the newspaper.

Evaluation.

My finish product compares a lot to my design as it is very similar to what i planned and designed, technology helped me turn my deign into a real product by creating the exact image of my product that i planned out and had in my head and by also adding lots of effects and techniques to make the product more effective.I feel my product is suitable for my target audience because its Aluminous and you can find it in bags and in dark places which was the purpose of the target audience of women that goes out a lot in bars, club and low light places. My two challenges was how to make an Aluminous product and how to advertise an Aluminous product, i have gained a lot of technical skills, decoration ,effects and loads more techniques from creating my product that will benefit me lots in the future and when i next make a product.

My findings from my magazine questions

I found out that the most popular name for my mascara was ‘luscious lashes’ with an age range of under 20. I also found out that Lucida calligraphy would be the chosen font with the use of the colour black and blue eyes for the mascara’s advert model. My mascara advert will be set in the main city of a popular town or city. I will not be changing anything and will be going by everyone’s chosen results from my questionnaire.

Luscious Lashes Airplanes in the night sky
Luscious Lashes – Hobo std
Luscious lashes – Lucida calligraphy
Luscious lashes sunshine poppy
Luscious Lashes – stencil

These fonts suit my product because they are very eye catches and bold and contrasts with the products name and feature, they are also very different to the normal plain sort of text so they are quite unique and interesting just like the product itself.

·      Luscious lashes
·      London’s hit best lashes
·      Extravagant lashes
·      Ever long lasting lashes
·      Glittering eyelashes
These names suit my product because they outline the mascara by a seductive name that stands out and is very easy to remember and pronounce and just sums up the whole mascara in its name.

Elements for my magazine spread.

The elements I chose for my magazine I choose the summer theme which includes a lot of varied different shades from red and orange they are an especially big hit for the summer theme as they are bright and bold and stand out a lot and in the high street there is a lot of red and orange clothing ranges which is a very popular source. I got a lot of ideas from the magazine spread and websites for example topshop which included a lot of bold headings and eye catching titles and photos which included on my own magazine spread. With the use of orange and red it creates a warm and passionate feeling to the magazine and makes the spread look a lot more happier and cheerful. The magazine spread and my own spread match and are quite siilar as they both have the same layout and style of clothing with the little abit of information adding more effect and detail.

My Data from my spreadsheet:

My findings from looking and sorting out my data from my spreadsheet we found out that the most popular magazine most read was gossip and fashion with the most popular ages varied between 10 - 20 year olds.
After looking through the spreadsheet, we have found that fashion magazines are most popular, compared too inter design, scientific and sport. How ever, many readers said ticked the ‘other’ box, suggesting that I should have put in more options of types of magazines in my questionnaire, such as gardening or a car magazine, for readers with different interests.

On the whole I think the readers enjoyed my magazine, it was unlike other magazines and had was more unique. In future, I would consider using a  popular model as my main photo so my target market of young readers would recongnise and know who she is and therefore they would be more likely too buy my magazine . I would also add more bolder colors to add more effect and make it more eye catching.

5 titles for my magazine..

5 titles for my magazine.

Diva: sounds quite unappealing for a fashion magazine sounds more on the line of a celeb magazine not a fashion magazine.

Catwalk: my main picture is of models on the catwalk so I thought it would suit perfectly but thinking about it, it would be nicer and more different to have a different main title.

Sparkle: it sounds like a teenage magazine and targeted at teenagers which would obviously not fit in well with my fashion magazine.

Gossip & Glamour: A nice name and title but I found it a bit to long and quite a mouthful to remember and say!

Lush: I chose this for my main title on my magazine as I found it quite unique and I thought it suited my magazine genre very well, it also was easy to remember and was to long or to short text.

Tv Choice Good And Bad Points:

Tv Choice Good And Bad Points:

This magazine is the cheapest of the bunch It carries a decent collection of the key channels and highlights Freeview channel numbers well for easy reference. Channels such as Sky1, ITV2 and E4. For the price it is ranged at it is very good but digital channels are a little cluttered and crowded making the magazine a tad messy.

Tv Quick Good And Bad Points:

Tv Quick Good And Bad Points:

This magazine seems to lack less quantity and costs twice as much as tv choice with eight less pages but with the same listings. But I found it a very quick way to find out information on the channels with less hassle and a non complicated way.

Radio Times Good & Bad Points..

Radio Times Good And Bad Points:

This magazine is very well presented publication, The listings are clear and well organised, but a little dry in some areas, in my view it is best for radio listeners with a range of a whole two pages for each of the main 5 channels. There's also the best coverage of radio, with the BBC stations, plus Talk Sport, Absolute Radio and Classic FM. Although the front cover seemed a tad over crowded the appearance looked very appealing and It would deffinatly attract me to read it.

Tv listing evaluation 2

TV magazine project.

We were asked to create a tv listings magazine front cover, we analysed three different front covers including tv choice, tv quick and radio times to figure out the target market and the social class that they were aiming for.
The magazine I choose to do was stated as middle class around the price of 99p to £1 I got my ideas from TV choice and analysed to my best ability. I focused on what I would like to see on a magazine in this sort of range and designed it myself but also had a lot of ideas in my head from the other three magazines, baring in mind not to over crowd and make the magazine go down into the lower class section by adding to much detail and getting the colour coordination completely wrong and lots more. The reason I chose this sort of class of magazine was because that the sort of magazine I would be interested in reading myself.

The main feature and focus on my front cover was ‘The only way is Essex’ which is an itv2 programme, which I know lots about and is quite a popular programme and many people are talking about it!
I used quite a stall chose of colours to blend in with the main picture, and tried very hard not to make it become overcrowded and tacky.
In class we were asked to find the answers to these 5 questions, the 5 questions are..
What is the most popular game console in the class, and the top 5 games most played?
What radio station to most people listen to and who is there favourite dj?
The number of people visit the cinema, and what film did they see last?
How many people use satellite television, and how many hour they watch on average a week?
What social networking site people use and how many contacts do they have on it?

The answers I found out for the most popular game console which resulted in ‘the wii’ the most popular radio station was ‘radio 1’ the lasted film people watched at the cinema was ‘step up 3d’. 13 people use satellite television which an average of 5 hours a day. The most popular social networking site ended up as facebook with people having 500 contacts minimum!

I collected this information by getting the whole class to fill in a questionnaire. The teacher then photocopied the questionnaires. We used the data from that to fill in our questionnaires on the macs using the questions from paragraph one.

In order to get the answers to the questions we sorted out the questions on the spreadsheet and then counted how many there was. For example to get the ‘Most popular game console in the class’ we used the sort function and then clicked on what question we wanted to find out which got them all in order so was more easy to read then we counted how many there was.

Tv listings Evaluation.

Our task was too design and create our own tv listings magazine front cover based on the research we did. We researched three other tv listing magazines (tv choice radio times and tv quick.)
I choose to design a lower class magazine around the price to 99p- £1.00. I got my ideas from TV choice and analysed to my best ability.
The reason why I choose this sort of class magazine was because, this magazine would catch my eye in a shop because it would be something that I would read myself, as it don’t look boring and crowded its spreaded around. The main feature of my magazine was ‘The only way is essex’ which is a very popular hit on the itv2 channel and has had a lot of hits I also used dark colours, and contrasting colours too catch the readers eye, however, I didn’t use bright, bold colours, because I think they make the magazine look cheap I also used a lot of shadowing and bold text. On a copy of tv choice there was a lot of picture and borders of text including what else is on television in the week, I used this idea and added it to my front cover as I found it very effective.
